I'm not good at this game !

Clearly, I'm not smart and/or organized enough to take care of a blog.
Anyway, I won't promise to do better but I will try at least.

Let's update our life !
What did we do since April ?
We went to the beach and I took my first and maybe last bath in the Pacific. I almost lost my toes in the freezing water. Who told me that the Pacific was a warm ocean ?!

Dan works a lot but really enjoys his job. I'm so happy for him and I'm glad that his company realizes how exceptional my hubby is.
I'm still looking for a job but my French tutoring is getting better every week. Now I do play dates in French with 6 two year old kids. I also give class to a bunch of adults and I'm expecting more students in September. I applied to be a French instructor for preschool in Marin County and I'm waiting for their answer. Cross your fingers for me ;-)

I got a volunteer position at the Humane Society in Novato and I'm following the training to be an Adoption Counselor. I love it ! It's the best way for me to improve my English, spend time with animals and be useful to the community.

Speaking of animals...

...We have new Sugar Gliders. Our couple had twin girls this time, Osumi and Kiku (names of the first Japanese satellites). They can be such a pain but I love them so much ;-P
I'm considering breeding them but I need a house to do so. Of course, we don't have the money to buy a house and won't have the money until we start breeding... It's a vicious circle ! We're thinking of selling our kidneys and livers, if you know anyone who's interested...
We hope we will be able to move next year. Dan hates having neighbors and I want a dog so bad.

I think that's it.
I will try to update soon even if we don't have a crazy life.

Oups...

I didn't write anything in my blog for more than a month and I don't even have a good excuse to justify it. I'm sorry.

I have plenty of time to do it now that I'm officially a housewife.
My man is kind enough to provide for us and pushed me to quit my job.

I love Mina but I was not happy being a nanny every day.
Now, I'm home and I'm looking for freelance work. I do my best to take care of our home and to make my hubby happy.

I also teach French to adults to bring home a little money.

On Friday, I applied to be a volunteer at my local SPCA. I'm still waiting for an answer. I'm won't be paid for the work I will do but at least I will be helpful to the community .

Last weekend, we went to buy a bougainvillea and other plants. I'm trying to have a "yard" with some cherry tomatoes and strawberries. I succeeded last year and I hope I will do as well this year.

Poor little thing

A hummingbird knocked himself out in our window today.

I put him on a towel in a box and Dan called the pet doctor to know what to do. She told us to wait an hour and if there were no changes we could bring it there.
After an hour, the bird opened his eyes but didn't really want to fly. I was worried about his wing so we went to the pet doctor.
He flew away in her office, she caught him, told us to release him in his natural habitat and that's what we did.
Everything went well and we're proud of ourselves ;-)

The New One has a name

We finally dedided to name our new Sugar Glider. In fact, we did it a few weeks ago but I didn't update my blog... Oups... Sorry... :-P
Dan's special boy is now named Spoutnik.

Once again, we followed our "Space Conquest" theme :
Aldrin is the second man who walked on the Moon.
Lois is Aldrins wife... so far ;-)
Valentina is the first woman who went to Space.
And Spoutnik is the first satellite sent to Space.

Endives au Jambon

Today, I was not working so I decided to cook one of my Dad's recipes: endive with ham.

I agree with you, it doesn't look that great (mostly because I forget to take a picture right out of the stove and I took the picture in the middle of my meal) but it's really good and Dan loved it.
And if I can make Dan eat vegetables, it's definitely a success ;-)

Our family

Let me introduce you to some members of the family.

We have Lois and Aldrin (Thanks April, Burgandy, Senja and Scott for this amazing gift). Aldrin's brother is named Armstrong that's why he's named Aldrin lol. Lois was Deirdre in the past but we realized that Buzz Aldrin's last wife was Lois. We wanted them to reproduce and we thought that would raise the chances lol. And we were right !

Valentina arrived quickly after. She was a calm baby...

... but she changed ;-)

And we have the "new one". We call him like that because I'm superstitious and I don't want him to die (Dan thinks it's ridiculous). He's tiny but really adventurous already.

They're weird animals but we love them and Dan is so proud to have a "baby boy" now. His "special boy" like he loves to call him.

Pop-Tarts

I had a new American experience this week : Pop-Tarts Frosted Blueberry.

One sentence comes to my mind right away : What the crap !?!
Who on earth would invent something so weird ? It's not that bad but it's not good either. It's way too sweet even for me.
Anyway... I did it but I'm not in a rush to do it again.

Pillow fight !

Today, it's raining !
We had nothing to do except watch movies and cuddle this morning. But, of course, Dan started a pillow fight.
This is the result.

I bit him and he's in pain.

I lost few hairs in the battle.
But we had a blast !
I know... we're not ready to have kids.

Cascade Canyon

Saturday morning, we were invited hiking with our good friends/neighbors Marcy and Guy.
They were raised in the Bay Area and they know all the good spots.

So we went to see Cascade Canyon in Fairfax. It was really nice to discover a new trail and enjoy the fresh air.
We still have plenty to learn about our region, but Marcy and Guy are going to take good care of us.

Housewife, but not desperate at all

Today I stayed home, I acted like a retro housewife and I really enjoyed it.

I'm not going to say that doing laundry or housework was exciting but do something different than my normal routine was great.
Now we're going to enjoy our weekend without planning laundry or cleaning time.

Don't get me wrong : I'm 100% working girl and I will have hard time staying home by myself for too long. But I really appreciate being useful at home.

S'more

I made another step on my quest to be more American last night.
I had my first S'more ever !

It's really good but why is all the American food that I love so fattening ? It's not fair !

I'm addicted !!!

I need help ! I'm addicted... to Cesar Millan "the Dog Whisssperrrerrr"!

I just love this show and can spend hours watching it. Cesar is impressive ! Even Dan who is not into dogs, watches the show with me.

Dan loves Daddy (the brown Pitbull) and I love Junior (the grey one).

I lost my dog Homere few years ago and I still miss him a lot.
It will be really hard to love another dog as much, but I know I need one in my life.
Hopefully, next year or the year after, I will go pick out a puppy... and a kitten for Dan ;-)

I'm more American

I'm officially American. Not because I received my Green Card (it was in September) but because I bought a travel mug last week. I suppose I was the only person in California without one ;-)

Super Bowl !

Today is the Super Bowl, not that I really care about it but I've discovered that American's celebrate the Super Bowl with junk food.
Now you know my desire to be a good American ;-)
So this is what we will eat today. Gooooo Americaaaaaaaa !

Resume

Dan helped me to make a new resume.  A great one !
I miss being a camera operator and I need to find a job soon.
I sent around 40 resumes and I received a few positive answers already. I will even have an interview in 2 weeks ! I'm so excited and I really hope I will have the position.
I'm still looking for more job offers. Let's cross our fingers.

I love my friends !

Saturday night, I invited all my friends from the Bay area to help me forget I'm old.
I was so happy to see everybody and I had a real blast !

I even met 2 French people (brother and sister). They were in the group that was playing at the restaurant. They were really good and I'm not saying that because they're French ;-)

Of course my man was the best to show me that I'm still young and he was still in love.

Great day !

Today, I'm officially 30 and I took the oath to make people around me more happy than ever.
Visibly, there's another guy who took the same oath at the opposite side of the country and they threw a big party for him. Why not for me ? ;-)

I will never forget this day anyway.
Mostly because I have the best husband ever and he took good care of me (like always).

One small step for me, one giant leap for mankind.
Thanks Barack and Good Luck !

30 ?... Already ?!

Tuesday, I will turn 30 but I love to think that I'm still 2.
What do you think ? ;-)
I know it's not big deal and that it won't change my life but I feel like I just hit a new chapter of my life that I was not in a rush to write.
Let's wait and see what happens...
